This morning in Jacksonville is a cool 36 degrees, with a real feel of 29. Pretty chilly for this Florida city. I know most of us can’t stand this cold weather, you know who else hates it? Rodents.
In the last couple weeks, calls have skyrocketed for rodent issues around town. People who’ve never seen a mouse in their home ever, are seeing them. Mice and rats are mammals, just like us, and they hate the cold weather – so when the temperatures drop, they seek warmth and shelter – usually inside someones home.
Really, there isn’t much you can do to prevent them from getting inside but there are a few steps you can take to help keep your home rodent free.
Eliminate Food Sources – This one is pretty simple: take out the trash, store food in plastic containers, don’t leave food out (this helps with roaches too), make sure all trash cans have lids.
Seal Up Entry Points – Do an inspection of the interior and exterior of your home. Look for any holes, spaces – even tiny ones. Mice can squeeze through holes the size of DIME if they need to.
Get a Cat – No, seriously. An indoor/outdoor cat will really help with keeping your home mouse free. They love the hunt and I guarantee you wouldn’t have an issue with one around.
Set a Few Traps – If you’re worried it might be an issue, set a few traps where you’ve seen the mice or rats. Being proactive is the best way for prevention.
If you do end up having a rodent issue, give us a call – we’ll take care of it for you. www.zenpura.com | 904.257.0090
